Hamilton city has a fibre based network operated by Velocity Networks that spans most of the CBD and a number of outlying areas. This provides ultra-high speed broadband internet access to commercial buildings at speeds of up to 1Gbps.

Our Access plans are tailored to organisations that want a high speed internet connection but are not hosting externally facing services or mission critical internet applications. Our plans cater for organisations who have outgrown DSL right through to large corporate offices. While each plan offers the same high speed 10Mbps peak performance, the decreasing contention ratios allow for increased numbers of concurrent users inside your organisation. For organisations with large numbers of staff, or with a number of heavy internet users, lower contention ratios will provide higher sustained performance. All plans are uncapped, with no data charges.
Our Access products are shared with other customers on the network and allow a much more efficient allocation of upstream bandwidth, hence a lower cost to the end customer. This arrangement suits customers whose bandwidth requirements are bursty, rather than consistent. The contention ratio dictates how many other customers can potentially share the upstream bandwidth allocation. Hence a lower ratio leads to more consistent performance. While our plans do not include a data cap, as a guide, an average business should expect to get between 30-50GB per month on the Access 200 plan. On the Access 2000 plan, an average business should expect to get between 300-500GB per month.
Our Ultra plans cater for organisations who demand guaranteed levels of services with the ability to host numbers of externally facing services and mission critical applications. They are provided by a dedicated layer two Ethernet connection and support routing multiple real-world IP addresses. Connection monitoring and usage graphs are provided as standard along with a 24x365 fault response contract.
Our Ultra plans are fully committed to a single customer, with no contention ratios. This means that the customer is guaranteed a minimum of the Committed Speed 24x7, burstable to the Peak Speed as the spare network capacity becomes available.

Once we have established with Velocity Networks that your business is within reach of the fibre network, an assessment of the existing fibre into your building will need to be made. The installation cost will vary depending on whether fibre needs to be run into your building or if it already exists.
As the amount of work required varies on a case-by-case basis, we will quote for installation once we have determined what needs to be done. Please feel free to contact us and we will start the process for you.
