Should I disconnect my copper line telephone?
Telephone calls over the broadband network may occasionally be affected by Internet congestion, and depends on electricity being available at your home. A number of our customers do choose to disconnect from the copper line network, especially if they have good cellular phone coverage as a backup.
Taking your existing number with you is called “porting”, and has a one-off cost of $20.00, and will disconnect you from the copper line network. This porting fee will be added to your monthly invoice.
Telephone Adaptors
You will need a telephone adapter in order to plug your existing telephone into the service. Rural Link supplies two standard options, although other alternatives can be used (talk to us for more information).
